The PosiTector® UTG Ultrasonic Thickness Gage is a high-performance instrument engineered to measure the wall thickness of metals, plastics, composites, and more using advanced ultrasonic technology. Designed for inspectors, maintenance teams, corrosion engineers, and NDT professionals, it’s ideal for evaluating the effects of corrosion, erosion, and wear on structures where access is limited to only one side—such as tanks, pipelines, storage vessels, ship hulls, pressure systems, and industrial equipment.
Featuring precision ultrasonic transducers, the PosiTector UTG delivers fast, stable, and highly accurate thickness readings across a wide variety of materials. Multiple-Echo Thru-Paint (UTG M) models allow users to measure the true metal thickness without removing protective coatings—saving time, reducing surface preparation, and preventing unnecessary damage to painted surfaces.
The instrument includes a durable 2.8″ impact-resistant color touchscreen combined with a redesigned keypad for quick and intuitive menu navigation. Its IP65-rated enclosure makes it weatherproof, dustproof, and water-resistant, ensuring reliable performance in harsh industrial environments. Pre-programmed acoustic velocities for common materials simplify setup—users can easily select from the list or enter custom values for specialty applications.
For high-speed inspections, the Min Scan mode continuously captures readings and automatically records minimum and maximum measurements, making it ideal for detecting thinning, pitting, or localized corrosion. Built on the PosiTector interchangeable platform, the UTG probe can attach to any PosiTector gage body, allowing full compatibility with additional probes including PosiTector 6000, 200, DPM, RTR, IRT, SPG, SST, SHD, BHI, and more.
Connectivity options include USB, WiFi, and Bluetooth, enabling seamless data transfer to PosiSoft software on PC, Mac, or smartphone, ensuring efficient reporting, documentation, and job tracking. Fully compliant with ASTM E797, the PosiTector UTG meets the industry’s strictest standards for ultrasonic thickness testing.
